C 1886 Antique Wedgwood Majolica Basketweave Plate With Arcaded Borders The Wedgwood company were well known during the last quarter of the 19th century to produce beautiful majolica including plates with reticulated borders. This attractive example has a very crisp basketweave design filling the entire centre of the plate. On the backside, the standard Wedgwood impression as well as the three letter date code can clearly be viewed. The plate spans 9 1/2” across and sets just under 1” high when lying flat. In excellent use condition with no major damage or repairs noted. I will mention and as visible in several of the pictures light crazing can be viewed especially on the backside. A truly attractive pattern produced in a number of different shapes but so pleasing when found in the flat plates. I have included a number of pictures for your viewing. The colours on the backside of the plate are particularly unusual for this style of plate making this piece particularly attractive. The item will be packaged well.
