Shinro Otake [Otake Shinro]
Contemporary artist.
As an elementary school student, he aspired to be a manga artist and became fascinated with collage art after creating "Black" and "Shidenkai" from cutouts from boys' manga magazines.
He accumulated drawings and visited Tezuka Osamu's animation production company "Mushi Production" located nearby, where he received animation cels.
In junior high school, he was inspired by his first Rembrandt exhibition and began painting in oil. He saw and heard records and art books owned by his eight-years-older brother and found potential in "Pop Art."
In 1974, he entered the Musashino Art University's Department of Oil Painting but took a leave of absence shortly after, working without pay or days off at a ranch in Betsukai, Hokkaido.
