This is a handmade Turkish prayer rug, so named as it is directionally designed to face one direction. It is 23"×38" with all geometric figures in a sort of arrow configuration. The colors are brown, red, and black. It has been recast at the warp ends to deter unraveling as well as at the selvage edges. Any prayer rug would look well hanging as on the floor.
This rug is evenly worn and probably 60'sor 70's vintage. It has an old woven repair (pictured) but otherwise very good.
Beware of "prayer rugs" made only of synthetic materials, very thin and shiny, produced in vast quantities for the tourist market by machine.
