Vintage Antique Bronze Olympic Commemorative Medal Circa 1896

This Antique Bronze Olympic Medal is in terrific shape. It has been lovingly protected from wear with a plastic medallion holder. On the obverse, the face of Zeus, the mythological Greek father of all other gods with his magnificent long hair and flowing beard. Also, cleverly hidden on the left side of Zeus’ head is the messenger of the gods, Hermes, carrying a caduceus, or olive branch, symbolizing unbreakable honor. On the reverse, is stamped a scene with the Parthenon, the house of Zeus and the other gods atop of Mount Olympus.
